ABOUT FINX

The FinX Awards 2019 celebrate the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship in the financial technology ecosystem in the Middle East and North Africa region. The awards also recognize innovation, excellence, and best practice shaping the future of financial services and inspiring a community of serial entrepreneurs, investment enthusiasts, passionate mentors, policy makers, and institutional CxOs towards financial inclusion and economic development.

FinX Awards are audited by Grant Thornton and judged by 12 professionals from around the world.

The second edition of the awards night, organized by Fintech Galaxy , is by invitation-only event taking place in Dubai, UAE on October 2nd, 2019 at 18:00 . The event involves a black-tie evening reception and gala dinner, and provides a platform for business networking opportunities, where regional and international fintech movers and shakers gather to recognize and honor individuals and/or institutions that shaped the future of the fintech ecosystem in the MENA region.

    This award recognises the Islamic bank that has been most effective in creating a compelling, innovative, reliable and seamless, digital transformation over the past year. Their success will be judged on partnerships and initiatives such as open APIs, digital bank, paperless transactions and the use of disruptive technologies in their retail, corporate, investment and private banking, while keeping in mind Shariah laws.

    This award recognises leaders who have driven the digital transformation of their institutions/ countries, successfully reengineering their ecosystem for the new digital age while delivering sustainable growth.

    This award recognises an innovative initiative/ program launched or sponsored by a public sector entity, bank, or financial firm that to promote innovation in the financial sector.

  • Fintech Partnership of The Year
  • Fintech Partnership of The Year

    This award recognises institutions or startups that has demonstrated an innovative initiative that has resulted in a successful partnership with a fintech startups.

  • Financial Inclusion Champion of The Year
  • Financial Inclusion Champion of The Year

    This award recognises an initiative by a financial institution or a bank that has empowered citizens with financial services they were not previously able to access. The initiative is based on growth, innovation and impact by developing, and implementing solutions to social, cultural, and/or environmental issues with a special focus on financial inclusion.

    An angel investor or a VC that has displayed the best investment acumen over the last year through an exit, early investment of a notable startup, or realization of an earlier investment.

    A fintech entrepreneur that has shown notable achievements over the last year in terms of great customer growth, sales, funds raised, uniqueness, impact of the product/service and leadership in the ecosystem.

    The award recognises a MENA fintech person who has demonstrated the highest degree of fintech excellence, innovation and leadership in the last year. Candidates should also have acted as a positive role model and actively sought to bring more diversity to the fintech industry.

FAQ

There are 16 categories in the 2019 FinX Awards. You are invited to make submissions on a category-specific basis.

Winners will be selected solely by the Judging Panel based on any and all information submitted.

The Judging Panel shall assess submissions using a combination of qualitative and quantitative metrics.

While considered criteria’ is provided for each award, applicants were encouraged to submit any and all information that they consider relevant and decisive.

Key points considered include:

Innovation: Does the company seize a real opportunity, and will it have the power to change the industry? To demonstrate true innovation, the nominee will have delivered a new product or solution, or a new business model etc.

Customer Satisfaction: Does the company satisfy a real need or desire? Can the company provide evidence of the advantages its solution has over alternatives?

Value: Does the company have a unique value proposition? What is the relationship between cost and benefits and the impact on the environment and society as a whole?

Delivery: How are consumers engaged, and how is the offering delivered and made available to the marketplace?

Traction: Is the company still signing up new customers and can it retain them? Is it possible for the solution to scale into new markets and grow the enterprise further?

Fintech Galaxy understands and respects each applicants’ need for confidentiality and, as such, all Awards submissions will be treated with the utmost privacy.
